From December 4 – 7 December the South African College of Music will stream their BOWED ELECTRONS 2021 Festival and Symposium and for the third year in a row I have been invited to participate.

Saturday December 4 at 16:00 SAST, 15:00 CET (Paris), 9:00 EST (New York) a 23 minute video presentation of my latest collaboration with artist Anne Graaff will be aired.

Titled CANTO 1, the artwork arises from the impulse to contemplate the inner journey. In the section of Dante dealt with here, the opening canto of  The Divine Comedy, there is an attempt to contemplate how language and articulation, represented by the figure of Virgil, play a significant role in the development of consciousness, providing the first glimmer of light, a way to negotiate the dark woods of the unconscious.

Ms Graff has created drawings using water colors and mixed media on colored paper which have been used to create a video to which I composed music for piano solo as well as a bit of sound processing.

CANTO 1 will air Saturday December 4 at 19:00 SAST, 18:00 CET (Paris), 12:00 EST (New York).

Access to the live stream can be found via the link below. The festival will be streamed on both Zoom and YouTube. After the festival it will be possible to access the streams.
